MBABANE – The Women’s Football League (WFL) is set to make its
eagerly-anticipated return, this coming Saturday.
This announcement was made by the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Eswatini
Women’s Football Association (EWFA), Ntandoyenkosi Hlathswayo. “We are
returning to the pitch this weekend and we are excited about a competitive
season that will be considerably more engaging than the previous one. “Our
hope is that the teams, particularly the prominent names, will deliver
exceptional performances and elevate the level of competition,” Hlathswayo
stated. She further emphasised the necessity for players to maintain their focus
and train diligently as they prepare for the upcoming season, a sentiment echoed
by the recently-concluded End Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Tournament held at
Msunduza Sports Ground.
“The tournament held over the past weekend was a splendid showcase of the
talent and determination of our local players. The quality of football displayed
was remarkable, and it leaves us with much to anticipate in the league. The
attendance was also encouraging – the crowds were substantial and the
atmosphere was electric. This indicates that we can expect tremendous support
from fans throughout the season,” she added. In the meantime, Young Buffaloes
Ladies were crowned champions of the End GBV tournament, following a commanding
2-0 victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs Ladies.

WFL gears up for kick-off in the new year, it appears that the stage is set for
