MBABANE – They mean business.
The MTN Premier League defending champions, Mbabane Swallows, are reportedly
poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming transfer market, which opens
today. A source within the ‘Birds’ camp has revealed that negotiations with
a former Sihlangu star Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule are at an advanced stage,
with reports suggesting they are close to securing the signature of the Manzini
Wanderers’ captain and midfielder.
“It’s an open secret that Swallows are looking to acquire ‘Mlaba’. He
was even spotted at Umkhonto KaShaka’s training ground last week, although the
session was cut short due to inclement weather,” the source stated.
Furthermore, the source highlighted that Swallows are also reportedly interested
in bolstering their midfield with the addition of former Royal Leopard
midfielder Menzi Sithole.

“The team is also weighing the option of reuniting with Menzi Sithole as they
have contacted him too,” the source added. When contacted for comment,
‘Mlaba’ declined to discuss the speculation, stating that he remains a
Manzini Wanderers player.  “I can’t comment as this is news to me,” the
former Denver Sundowns player said. The midfield maestro is still contracted to
the maroon and white giants after signing a one-year deal during the first
window period last year. Meanwhile, Swallows’ Public Relations Officer (PRO),
Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya, mentioned that they will soon meet with the
technical team to discuss potential transfers during the upcoming window.
It is worth noting that several players are reportedly considering leaving the
‘Birds’ nest amid financial challenges.
