With Somhlolo National Stadium still undergoing renovations to meet international standards, the EFA has been compelled to host home games in South Africa, specifically at Mbombela Stadium. This costly procedure has incurred expenses estimated at over E933 000 per Sihlangu match for EFA. However, the situation will be different for the senior women’s national team, Sitsebe. Sitsebe are set to embark on a TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying journey, next month. fixtures They will face two rounds of home-and-away fixtures against fellow Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) member Namibia. Sitsebe will host the first leg of the matches in the period February 17-26, 2024, with the second leg to be also played within this period. EFA Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi Radebe, has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) permits them to host Sitsebe’s games at the local football ‘Mecca’. “Let me confirm that CAF permits us to host at home (Somhlolo) and we will provide full details about the match as we draw closer to the dates.
