MBABANE - The transfer saga surrounding Mbabane Swallows Captain, Kwakhe
‘Stopper’ Thwala, continues to heat up, with the latest development seeing
Moneni Pirates enter the race for his signature. Thwala, who recently submitted
a request to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Players Status Committee
(PSC) seeking release from Swallows, is a highly sought-after player. Nsingizini
Hotspurs, Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes have all expressed interest in the
national team assistant captain.
Sources close to the player indicated that Hotspurs were initially leading the
race, having tabled a lucrative E150 000 offer, surpassing Royal Leopard’s bid
by E30 000.

However, Pirates have emerged as strong contenders, having reportedly agreed to
personal terms with Thwala. “It looks like Kwakhe will be joining Moneni
Pirates for the second half of the season,” a source revealed. This publication
understands that Thwala agreed to personal terms with Pirates over a week ago
and is expected to sign a contract this week. This move would reunite him with
former Coach Caleb Ngwenya. While sources close to the left-footed player insist
Nsingizini Hotspurs are still in the picture, the ‘Sea Robbers’ of Moneni
are leading the race for his signature.

Pirates’ Public Relations Officer, Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane, when
approached for comment, did not refute the connection, emphasising their high
regard for Thwala, who is both a national team player and captain. “It is
every team’s wish to have a player like Kwakhe, however, we haven’t signed
him,” Simelane said. It is worth noting that Swallows have reportedly placed a
E200 000 price tag on Thwala. PRO Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya was quoted by
this publication confirming that the player’s performance has captured the
attention of many clubs and they were currently evaluating their options.
