Mduduzi Maphalala was at the helm of a competitive field comprising over 80 golfers in this prestigious annual event, which commenced yesterday and is set to conclude today. As of the latest report later yesterday, Maphalala held a commendable score of 71 gross, showcasing his skill on the course. Champion It is noteworthy that the ultimate champion will be determined in today’s final round. Defending champion Mongiwetfu Masuku, despite a lacklustre start yesterday, remains optimistic about his prospects of claiming victory in this fiercely contested tournament. Meanwhile, junior golfer Kaylah Zwane expressed her desire to gain invaluable experience during her inaugural participation in the event. She also encouraged fellow young ladies to join this predominantly male-dominated sport. Mbabane Golf Club Lady Captain Nolly Ginindza characterised this event as one of the most significant tournaments in the country. However, she lamented the underrepresentation of female golfers, with less than 10 participating compared to the overall field of over 80. Additionally, Mbabane Golf Club Captain Gideon Mhlongo expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s turnout, noting that the golf course is nearly at full capacity, hosting approximately 80 competitors. He extended his gratitude to the sponsors for their unwavering support over the past decade.
