MBABANE – The University of Eswatini’s Kwaluseni Campus emerged victorious
in the inaugural Eswatini Tertiary Institutions Sports Association (ETISA)
soccer finals.
The winners secured the coveted championship title and a substantial E15 000
prize.
The tournament, held on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre, witnessed a display of
intense competition among Eswatini’s leading tertiary institutions. This
landmark event, the first-of-its-kind, was generously sponsored by MulaSport,
adding a palpable layer of excitement to the proceedings.
The tournament not only celebrated the athletic prowess of the nation’s
students, but also underscored the spirit of sportsmanship and unity that binds
Eswatini’s tertiary institutions. It has effectively laid the groundwork for
future opportunities and enhanced sporting engagement within the higher
education sector.
Kwaluseni Campus made a resounding statement in the men’s final, delivering a
decisive 4-1 victory over Ngwane Teachers Training College in a match that,
ultimately, proved one-sided.
The team, fuelled by exceptional performances throughout, exhibited relentless
attacking play. Their star players demonstrated remarkable skill and unwavering
determination, leaving their opponents with little recourse.

In the highly-anticipated third-place playoff, the Eswatini College of
Technology (ECOT) narrowly edged out UNESWA Luyengo Campus with a nail-biting
3-2 victory. The tension was palpable and the match provided a fitting testament

The day’s action commenced with the women’s soccer final, where the UNESWA
Kwaluseni ladies demonstrated their dominance.
Under the astute guidance of Head Cach Percy Shongwe, who also manages MTN
National First Division side Tambankulu Celtics, Kwaluseni’s women triumphed
2-0 over Luyengo Campus. This victory earned them a prize of E10 000,
solidifying their position as one of the premier collegiate teams in the
country.
The resounding success of the event, which showcased both men’s and women’s

Eswatini’s tertiary institutions.
