Times Of Swaziland: Billiards ladies national team selected Billiards ladies national team selected ================================================================================ NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 09/06/2009 00:00:00 MBABANE – Only two ladies retained their spot in the Ladies Pool national team selected on Sunday at Manzini Club. They are last year’s captain Thab’sile Dlamini and Elisa Chambers, both from the Hhohho region. The other four players who made it for the first time in the squad comprises of Thandiswa Dlamini, Portia Magwaza, Sonto Gamedze and Happy Chambers. The team of five players with the sixth being a reserve will represent the country in the All Africa Games to be held in South Africa in August. Billiards Association of Swaziland (BAS) executive member Vusi Masilela said the team was made up of good players. “Really we were impressed with the ladies during the selection tournament. They played well and we are confident that all the winners will maintain their perfomance,” he said. About 11 players attended the selection tournament. Masilela said they were still to look for a coach to lead the team. He said last year’s captain (Thab’sile Dlamini) who led the team in the World Cup held in the country at the Convention Centre will continue leading the team. Meanwhile, Mavuso announced that over the weekend they will be selecting the over 40 national team. He said they were expecting all players who had reached the age of 40 years not to miss the selection tournament. select “After selecting the over 40 years players, we will then select the under 23. The teams would be put to test if they are ready for the All Africa Games with two friendly games to feature South Africa on June 27 and they will play against Lesotho on July 3-4,” he said. BAS will send four squads to the games in August and now only the senior team and the ladies team has been selected.
