Times Of Swaziland: PLS making big mistake – ‘Sport’ PLS making big mistake – ‘Sport’ ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 17/08/2013 01:33:00 MBABANE – Former Premier League of Swaziland’s CEO Zwelonke ‘Sport’ Dlamini has taken a swipe at his ex-employers for misdirecting funds. Reacting to yesterday’s back page story in the Times of Swaziland which was titled ‘PLS’ E200 000 for CHAN outing’, he said this was a big mistake. “It is good to note that the PLS made profits which I played a part in but while the idea to send governors to the CHAN games sounds good, it is not doing any justice to our football as the clubs need the money,” he said. He said among the 24 PLS Board of Governors; most of them did not need this outing as their clubs were struggling to even pay their players’ rent, training allowances and salaries. He said the PLS definitely could still humble itself and review this decision. “It was understandable when they went to the AFCON Games to see other spheres of the game but doing it again is a big mistake. This money came from the clubs and supporters so it should boost the teams to improve,” he said. He said the PLS could afford to give grants to the clubs even if it means E15 000 to E20 000 each but it has got to start somewhere as opposed to what he termed lavish spending. He wondered how taking the governors and their spouses to CHAN would benefit the game. “With all due respect to the PLS executive and the governors they can still revisit this decision as it is the clubs that are struggling and need the cash boost,” he added. However, no immediate comment could be obtained from the PLS’ CEO Nqobile Magagula as her cellphone rang unanswered for the better part of yesterday afternoon. Meanwhile, Dlamini recently parted ways with the PLS following a disagreement on a new job offer as Development Officer. He rejected the offer on grounds that it was a demotion as it is a junior position and his E10 000 monthly salary was also tempered with.
