Times Of Swaziland: Basil Petersen takes over at ‘Bull’ Basil Petersen takes over at ‘Bull’ ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 24/08/2013 03:12:00 MBABANE – As capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders continue their revamp under new dire-ctorship, the club has since agreed to terms with South African coach Basil Pete-rsen to lead them back into the elite league. It has been established through close sources to the team’s authorities that Petersen was the club’s new coach and was due to be officially unveiled yesterday. However, the unveiling was not to be as the club then suspended its activities to allow its players to exercise their right to vote in the national Primary Elections today. “Petersen was here last week to meet the directors and indications are that he is taking over the club and could also be bringing some players for trial from South Africa,” said the source. Meanwhile, the club’s PRO David Litchfield was diplomatic when asked about the matter saying they will be unveiling their coach soon once the directors give them that directive. “There’s no denying that the Chairman and his Board of Directors have got a coach now but we’ll unveil him together with our Puma replicas,” he said. He said chances that it was Petersen were high but preferred to leave it at that saying they will unveil their man soon as he was expected to start work by Tuesday at least. Petersen was just recently with Manzini Wanderers as Kenny Ndlazi’s assistant but it was a brief spell as he could not take what he was offered as salary. At Highlanders he also replaces sacked interim Malian coach Alou Badara. Badara was relieved of his duties on Tuesday afternoon by the directors after they felt they were not comfortable with him. Getting a comment pro-ved futile but it was learnt that he had been advised by his new employers and he would speak to the media on his unveiling.
