Times Of Swaziland: It’s a big blow to sports – Menzi It’s a big blow to sports – Menzi ================================================================================ BY NTUTHUKO DLAMINI I on 27/08/2013 02:31:00 MBABANE – While sports associations have celebrated the loss of Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hlobisile Ndlovu in the Primary Elections , SNSRC Chairman Menzi Dlamini thinks otherwise. In fact the Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council has described the crashing out of Ndlovu during the elections as a blow to the sporting fraternity. The chairman said Ndlovu has huge experience in sports which could go to waste if she could be lost for good. He said the minister has gained a lot of experience on sports issues, both locally and in the region, as she once headed the Zone VI Council of Ministers of Sports. “The minister has done a lot for sports which some people may not understand because they do not know of the government objectives. Otherwise, I think losing Hlobi in sports could be a huge loss indeed,” he said. Dlamini said it could be very unfortunate to lose the minister in the next term of Cabinet to see off the transition of the Sports Council to the Recreation Council. He counted the establishment of the Sports Policy and the Recreation Council as the minister’s initiative for sports development. “I just hope that if a new minister is appointed to replace her, he/she should not be emotional when deciding on issues, but, evaluate the objectives and ta-ke a decision that will benefit sports not individuals, interest,” Dl-amini said.
