The national team, Sihlangu goalminder was rushed to Manzini Clinic on Saturday where he was treated and discharged. A source close to the matter disclosed that he was stabbed once in the shoulder with a sharp object during a fight that broke out against unidentified people. “The injury was so serious as he got stabbed in the shoulder and he was rushed to Manzini clinic where he got treatment. It was not gathered as to what started the fight but Mngomezulu was with his friends when the fight started against some boys at Zakhele,” said the source. Mngometulu was the first choice goalkeeper last season after the departure of Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza who has since bounced back to the club. Mngometulu was part of the Valere Billen squad that played the CHAN Qualifiers against Angola and the COSAFA Senior Challenge in Zambia. The player confirmed being injured on Saturday night but he refused to give details on the matter. “I got injured in my shoulder but it is not something to talk about. I was never in a fight, but I fell,” he said. He, however, confirmed that the doctor ordered him to stay out of action for at least a month. He will miss the Swazi Telecom/ PLS Trade Fair Cup expected to kick-off on Friday. The former Manzini Sundowns goalkeeper will also miss the kick-off of the Castle Premier Challenge and the MTN Premier league. The maroon and white outfit PRO Lington Gule confirmed that Mngometulu will be out of action for four weeks after being injured on Saturday. “I cannot talk much about how he got injured but I am aware that he will be out of action due to the injury. We are happy that it was not that serious in such a way that it threatened his career,” he said. Our source further revealed that Mngometulu did not open a case against the assailants. “No one was arrested concerning the stabbing of the goalkeeper and he did not report the matter to the police,” said the source.
