(At Somhlolo National Stadium)
LOBAMBA – Dazzling winger, Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie has dazzled his way
back into his team, Mbabane Swallows’ nest.
After apologising to the team’s technical bench, players, Management Committee
(MC) and the directors, the gifted wing wizard resumed training with the Mbabane
giants yesterday morning at the Prince of Wales Ground before joining the rest
of his teammates during the afternoon training session at Somhlolo National
Stadium.
The news is likely to be met with exceeding joy by the throngs of Swallows
supporters, as the speedy forward was badly missed by the Champions League-bound
side.
Interviewed after the training session at the national stadium yesterday
afternoon, the player confirmed that he was back with his beloved side after
apologising.
“What is in the past should be in the past. I am happy to be back because I
love this team and I am sorry to everyone who might have been offended,” said
the player often times referred to as one with diamonds on the soles of his
boots because of his ball artistry. Swallows acting Chief Executive Officer
(CEO), Sibusiso Manana declined to commit himself on the player’s presence at
training, opting to say that Darren has always been their player.
Christie, although evidently still struggling with fitness after going Absent
Without Official Leave (AWOL) for almost three weeks, still showed flashes of
brilliance though during their practise match at training.
Training was conducted by new Swallows Zambian coach, Chris ‘Gazza’ Tembo,
who first took the players through a vigorous physical workout for about one
hour 30 minutes before dividing the players into two groups for a half ground
game.
Chrisie, who was first sidelined, was then introduced towards the end of the
game, where he operated in his favourite right flank and made a fool of the
defenders with his ball trickery.
He will be available on Sunday when Swallows clash against National First
Division League ensemble, Hellenic at Somhlolo National Stadium. He has missed
two official games since going AWOL, the 5-3 win over Sea Birds and the 1-1 draw
against Moneni Pirates, which as played last Saturday at Mayaluka Stadium.
