Times Of Swaziland: ‘SOMHLOLO IS FILTHY’ ‘SOMHLOLO IS FILTHY’ ================================================================================ BY DUMISANI NTIWANE on 07/03/2014 05:18:00 LOBAMBA – The Somhlolo National Stadium is now a health hazard and a disgrace to the country, Siphofaneni MP Gundwane Gamedze has noted. He was speaking during the debate of the Ministry of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs’ annual performance report in Parliament yesterday. Gamedze said the last time he saw the stadium in a good condition was sometime in the 1980s, something that prompted laughter from his colleagues. “Honestly, the last time the stadium was in a good condition was when English team Manchester United visited the country. At the moment, the stadium is in a pathetic state. I want to urge the minister to immediately take a drive to the stadium before they try cleaning it and he will be surprised by what he will see. “I was initially surprised to see males relieving themselves in the open but upon entering the toilets I was dismayed to see the mess. Worms are all over the place and it is so disgusting. Something must be done,” he said. Most of the other MPs shared similar views and wanted to find out from the Minister David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala whether there are any plans of constructing a bigger and better stadium to accommodate more people. Gege MP Musa Kunene said; “The Somhlolo National Stadium is now too small to accommodate the masses. I want to know from the minister whether there are plans to build a bigger and better stadium”. Mangcongco MP Patrick ‘Pha’ Motsa said the ministry should consider renovating stadiums like the one in Bhunya because that would go a long way in solving the problem football finds itself in.
