Times Of Swaziland: UNISWA RECLAIMS GLORY UNISWA RECLAIMS GLORY ================================================================================ By Multimedia Int’l on 17/03/2014 04:54:00 The University of Swaziland cricket girls team were crowned champions of the Intervarsity Cricket Cup 2014 on Wednesday in Malkerns. The very proud moment came after they drew the two-match series against the National University of Lesotho (NUL), but with a superior Net Run Rate they claimed the silverware. UNISWA won the first match by 30 runs and lost the second by 6 wickets. It took grim determination and hard work for the girls to hoist the Swazi flag high in the tournament. The girls could not wait any longer to have a gold medal for the boys team already had one which they won back in Botswana in 2011. The result shows that the sport among girls in the country is growing and the interest and understanding is indeed growing. The boys’ team, however, could not be at par with the performance of the girls in giving their opponents a heavy defeat to surpass the net run rate set by NUL boys in the first match. The NUL team won the first match by 7 wickets and the UNISWA team won the second by 3 wickets. Cricket is growing in the country and we would like to thank the University of Swaziland for contributing towards the growth of the game. USUTU AT IT AGAIN Usutu Forest Primary reigned supreme again in the U-13 Cricket Festival, hosted by Ubombo Primary in Big Bend, after they topped their group and beating Ubombo Primary in the final by 20 runs. They were crowned with a beautiful trophy and gold medals, Ubombo settled for the silver and Montessori Life Primary were third receiving bronze medals after beating Thembelisha by 6 wickets. Sachin de Silva of Usutu was the best bowler of the tournament, Dawood of Ubombo was the best batsman and Liam Taman of Usutu was the best fielder. Ubombo, however, were crowned champions in the Under 9 mini-cricket tournament with Usutu and Sifundzani coming second and third, respectively.
