Times Of Swaziland: S. AFRICA WORLD CUP STADIUMS’ COMPANY FOR SOMHLOLO LIGHTS S. AFRICA WORLD CUP STADIUMS’ COMPANY FOR SOMHLOLO LIGHTS ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 18/03/2014 04:22:00 LOBAMBA – Government is set to engage one of the companies that built the 2010 World Cup stadiums in South Africa as it seeks to improve the lighting system at Somhlolo National Stadium. This transpired yesterday during a visit to the country’s soccer Mecca which has had problems with its lighting system which saw the Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Ministry engage a contractor to work on it. While the local company, SD Electrical, has done its part as the floodlights were ready for night use by last Friday, the ministry feels it should not just be an end as it should be as bright as possible during night games. “We envisage having each pole carrying 24 light bulbs instead of the current 16 and have already consulted with the Works Ministry on it,” said the Ministry’s PS Sicelo Dlamini as they were at the stadium to check on the lights. He said the FA has also come in to say it was ready to connect them with one of the companies used for the World Cup stadiums in South Africa. The FA was represented by CEO Frederick Mngomezulu who also acknowledged this. Mngomezulu confirmed that there would be a final inspection this morning at 8.30am to ensure all was still in place to host the pending games at night.
