HLOBI BEATS SIKHUMBUZO IN PSB RACE

LOBAMBA – She might have lost in the national elections but there is a chance
for former Minister Hlobisile Ndlovu to stay relevant in politics.
This comes after she amassed the highest number of votes during the election of
members of the Parliamentary Service Board (PSB), which took place in the House
of Assembly yesterday.
Ndlovu first made it onto the list of nominations together with other top guns,
who included former MPs Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, Trusty Gina and Patrick Pha Motsa.
After the nomination phase, MPs went for a break and returned to cast their
votes through the secret ballot box process. The former minister then emerged
victorious after she scooped 38 votes and beat Dlamini, who received 20.
Her victory means that she will now battle it out for a seat in the PSB against
former Senator Meninjeni Mahlalela.
Mahlalela also tried his luck in the elections under the Lomahasha Inkhundla but
was not successful.
Yesterday he was voted as an independent member for Senate and beat Dlamini, who
tried his luck in the upper house as well.
The eventual winner will be determined through voting in the joint sitting as
per the provisions of the Parliamentary Service Act, 2015 and the Constitution
of Eswatini, 2005.
On another note, former National Commissioner of Police Isaac Magagula is also
in the race for a seat in the PSB, after he was voted by his colleagues.
Magagula will battle it out against Senators Chief Mphatfwa and Princess
Ntfombiyenkhosi.
Rotational
According to the Constitution of Eswatini, the president and Speaker are
chairpersons of the PSB on a rotational basis.
Section 131 of the Constitution of Eswatini, 2005 states that the parliamentary
service shall form part of the public service of Eswatini.
