This, because quite a number of people were arrested for being found in possession of dagga while others were apprehended after they were found hunting and in possession of animal skins. During the Easter holidays, 14 people were arrested for being found in possession of dagga in different places around the country. Worth noting is that 11 of the 14 are women. In one of the incidents, Pigg’s Peak police arrested and charged six women for being found in possession of dagga weighing 132kg with a street value of E105 600 while at Mganda area. Possession Also, Siteki police arrested and charged five people for being found in possession of dagga weighing 19.26kg with a street value of E15 408 while at KaLanga. On another note, four people died in different incidents this Easter holidays. The figures reflect a decrease compared to the previous year. Last year, there were six people who died due to road accidents while two burnt to death inside a house. Pedestrians Two of the four people who died this year were both pedestrians and were knocked down by motor vehicles last Friday. In the first accident, a 13-year-old boy of Ntabamhloshana was knocked down by a Toyota sedan which was driven by a 50-year-old man of Big Bend. The boy is said to have been rushed to Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital after sustaining serious injuries. He was, however, certified dead by a medical doctor upon arrival. The accident happened at around 6:30pm along the Siphofaneni/Hhelehhele MR8 Public Road near Ntabamhloshana. On the same day, about half an hour later along Sihhoye/Nyokeni Public Road, a Nissan truck that was driven by a 56-year-old man of Nkambeni knocked down a 41-year-old pedestrian of Mbangazwe, who sustained serious injuries on the head. The man was rushed to Good Shepherd Hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man of Makhamathu (Mashobeni) died after being stabbed several times with a sharp object in the head and body while at Makhamathu. It could not be established, however, if the people involved in the man’s death were apprehended by the police. Moreover, last Saturday, two security rangers shot two men who were found hunting at Bar J Farm. One of the men was reported to have died on the spot while the other was admitted to Good Shepherd Hospital. Mafutseni police on the other hand, arrested and charged a man aged 24, of Siweni, for being found in possession of a 12 bore short gun loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition while at Endlovini.
