Times Of Swaziland: Inkhosikati's driver arrested Inkhosikati's driver arrested ================================================================================ JABULISA DLAMINI on 15/12/2010 00:00:00 MANZINI- A 39 year old man who is the driver of an undisclosed Inkhosi-kati based at the Masundvwini Royal Residence, was arrested for three counts including reckless driving. Patrick Malaki Nhleko was also charged with failing to appear in court and that is when he claimed to be a driver of an Inkhosikati. Nhleko was on November 29, 2010 duly summoned to appear before the Manzini Magistrates Court, however, he failed and has been charged with violating the dignity repute and authority of the said court in one of the charges. In his defence, the accused said he failed to honour the summons because he had to rush the Inkhosikati to a private hospital in South Africa. It is alleged that on November 15, 2010, the accused was driving near Living Waters, along the MR3 public road in a royal vehicle BMW X5 registered SD 231 ZL, when he intentionally and unlawfully drove recklessly and failed to observe a stop sign. It is alleged that the accused entered the road without due care and that he exposed other motorists to danger and nearly caused an accident. In another count, it is alleged that while driving the same royal guard vehicle, he failed to keep his driver’s licence with him in the motor vehicle. In count four, the accused drove the said vehicle and failed to comply with the instruction given to him by a police officer, which was to drive to the Manzini Police Station, but instead, he disappeared. The accused was represented by T. Bhembe who pleaded with the magistrate on his behalf to be lenient as he had to rush the Inkhosikati to hospital in South Africa. The magistrate told the accused it was not the court’s fault that he had to rush the Inkhosikati to South Africa. "Nothing and no one is above the court. On the day you had to leave everything, no matter how important it was and come court for your case. "In this court, we can arrest anyone including the commissioners, except for His Majesty the King and Indlovukazi," Magistrate Mazibuko said, much to the laughter of the people inside court. The case was postponed to December 21, 2010 for trial.
