The hampers were presented to the Imbali courtesy of the Imbali Foundation whose vision bearer is Inkhosatana Sikha-nyiso. His Majesty commissioned the maidens at 4:20pm after the hampers distribution process which lasted for about four ho-urs. The King advised maidens to be united and behave responsibly on their way to cut the reed at Bhamsakhe and Mpisi Farm. Bishop Mavovo Mkho-nto disclosed that the total cost of the toiletry hampers that were received by maidens shortly before being commissioned by the King to cut umhlanga was E1 650 000. “Each of the maidens received a toiletry pack worth E30 to keep themselves clean and healthy during the course of the Umhlanga ceremony. We hope they appreciate the gift, possibly it could be bigger and better in future,” briefly said Mkhonto as he rushed to coordinate the distribution process of the hampers. The hampers which came with a free bag comprised of a comb, soap, sanitary pads, panty liners, toothpaste, tooth brush and toilet paper. The foundation initiated a campaign to collect and provide toiletry hampers for maidens at the reed dance with the intent to promote a healthy lifestyle among the maidens.
