UNDER-20 SQUAD WILL FACE  KENNEDY MWEENE’S NEPHEW

MBABANE – The National Under-20 have to beat nephew to Mamelodi Sundowns
goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene if they are to progress in the COSAFA Under-20
championships.
Bradley Mweene is part of the Zambia Under-20 tentative squad to play in the
championships where they are to face Swaziland, Uganda and Malawi in Group A.
The championships will take place in Kitwe, Zambia from December 6 to 16.
The Zambians are both holders of the regional championship and were also crowned
African champions earlier this year, but it is largely a new group of players
that will contest in the championships.
According to cosafa.com, almost all of the players are 17 years old or younger,
with midfielder John Mulalangabo the youngest, having just celebrated his 14th
birthday.
Zambia coach Mumamba Numba successfully led the Zambian side to glory at the
COSAFA Under-17 Championships in Mauritius this year, with many of his players
now taking the step up to the Under-20 side.
That includes joint top-scorer with the Under-17s, Lameck Banda and the
highly-rated Prince Mumba.
Meanwhile, the local side led by Mandla ‘Sitofu’ Dlamini is in camp
preparing for the games.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Marketing and
Communications Officer, Muzi Radebe said there was progress as preparations are
concerned and they will go to full-time camp when schools close.
