Times Of Swaziland: ‘MAVIKANE’ EMBRACES FURNITURE WORKOUT ‘MAVIKANE’ EMBRACES FURNITURE WORKOUT ================================================================================ BY THEMBA ZWANE on 07/04/2020 02:28:00 MBABANE – Local sports administrators have started embracing the indoor ‘furniture’ challenge. This follows the closure of gyms and training centres in the wake of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. There is actually no need to have expensive gym equipment in your house to keep training and stay fit during the lockdown. Fitness experts have been preaching the gospel of simply using your furniture for your everyday exercise while keeping indoors. TZD Marathon Communications and Marketing Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini is one of the country’s sports administrators who have led by example in using simple technology and furniture to train indoors to keep fit. Home Dlamini told the Times Sports Desk that the emphasis was that people should stay home, sanitise and follow the World Health Organisation (WHO) preventative guidelines. “Exercise indoors and those who like to jog in the morning should do it individually not in groups and the distance should not be long,” he said. The PRO also disclosed that when they talked of COVID-19, there was no specific age group so they encouraged all to take on physical fitness training for all to have strong immune systems. He added that the elderly were more vulnerable to the virus and encouraged them to embrace indoor exercise. “The elderly should, however, not punish themselves by doing long run distances but must keep indoors to train during the lockdown,” he said. This is the same gospel preached by fitness coaches and health experts.
