The championships are billed for Luanda, Angola, from today to this coming Sunday. A total of 16 swimmers will jump into the swimming pool to compete with others from various countries in this year’s African Swimming Confederation (CANA) Zone IV Swimming Championships. The competition will feature teams from around the region, comprising boys and girls aged 11 years and older, in different categories. Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Association Secretary General (SG) Nozipho Mahlalela said her office was indebted to MultiPurpose, that sponsored the Eswatini team’s airfares. “As an association, we want to specially thank MultiPurpose for sponsoring our team with airfares and Eswatini Airways for providing our team with affordable and reliable service,” she said. Mahlalela went on to say that the two-week camp will come in handy. “We are confident that we will witness a shower of medals from the CANA Zone IV Championships. Surprising “It wouldn’t be surprising even if we would break some records because the swimmers have been showing a lot of dedication while preparing for the games. We have also seen them improve on their personal best times and I’m confident that we will be seeing podium finish from the tournament,” she added. Meanwhile swimming Coach Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane, who is going in Angola as an International Technical Official, requested by CANA to go there and officiate, revealed that he was grateful for the opportunity. “I’m grateful for the opportunity that I have been chosen as one of the officials to officiate in the CANA Zone game. I’m looking forward to do my best and doing the best for my country. I wish the best for team Eswatini,” he said. Eswatini will flex it out against the likes of Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Namibia, Madagascar, South Africa, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Zambia and hosts Angola at the annual event.
