Phinda off to Amazulu!

MBABANE – Swazi international Phinda ‘Phindrix’ Dlamini is on the verge of signing with Durban based ABSA Premiership side, Amazulu FC next season, the Times Sports Desk has gathered.

Information gathered by this publication is to the effect that the Absa Premiership side and Nedbank Cup finalists have shown interest in the University of Pretoria marksman.

Former Bafana Bafana captain and Amazulu coach, Neil Tovey’s team has already approached the player’s agent, Ashley Kotzeen to enquire about the Sihlangu striker’s services.

"Tovey actually approached Phinda after the Nedbank Cup quarter-final where he indicated his interest and Amazulu officials have already approached the player’s agent, Kotzeen for negotiations and talks are at an advanced stage," our informed source said.

Also interested in snatching the Under-20 starlet is another premiership side, Platinum Stars where his younger brother, Majaha, is also trying his luck.

"Chances of him breaking through the first team at SuperSport United are slim but he feels at AmaZulu he stands a better chance of establishing himself. Moving to Durban will not be a problem for him as he could transfer even on the academic side," he added.

In an interview yesterday, a jovial Dlamini, who recently won the top goal scorer and player’s player of the year awards in the just ended season at AmaTuks, confirmed the possibility of him joining Amazulu next season.

"It is true that I might be joining the Durban outfit next season, my agent has already made me aware of the development. However, that will all depend on SuperSport as I am contracted to them," he said.

The Sihlangu striker said he would know more on the move once the negotiations between his team and agent begin.

"There are many things that go with joining a new team such as transfer fees and other aspects which need to be negotiated between the two teams. I am now waiting for feedback from my agent on whether or not the negotiations have begun," he said.

Amazulu made headlines when they beat Sundowns to reach the finals of the recently played Nedbank Cup.

They were, however, lost to Bidvest Wits who were crowned the champions. Efforts to get a comment from Tovey proved futile last night as his mobile phone was on voicemail mode.
