Congratulations education minister and PS
Sir,
I would like to thank Pat Muir and Wilson ‘Future’ Ntshangase for reviving the Pre-vocational education programme in secondary schools in Swaziland.
I have been doing my M-Ed course with one of the South African universities and my thesis was on pre-vocational education in Swaziland.
I went around the country visiting schools and teachers doing this programme.
I noted the infrastructure and machinery put in place by our Government in these schools.I was saddened by the fact that about two schools have phased out the programme from their curriculum.
Smooth
This was due to a number of factors which hindered the smooth operation of the programme. Looking at the infrastructure and machinery, I could see that our government spent millions and millions of Emalangeni on the pre-vocational education set-up.
I must point out that our country needs such a programme, because it is not all pupils who further their education in higher institutions of learning in Swaziland. Some pupils are not so fortunate to have such a privilege.
Projects
If they have done the programme, it means they can start small projects that would generate some income for them.
It gave me hope to see two posts of a senior inspector and inspector of pre-vocational education being advertised by the Ministry of Education.
I would like to thank Mr. Pat Muir (PS) and umhlonishwa Mr Wilson Ntshangase for that.
Finally there is hope for pre-vocational teachers, principals and pupils.
Challenges facing the programme will still be there, but I am sure they will be sorted out if all parties work together for the betterment of Swazi pupils.
Boy Khumalo
