MANZINI - The Swaziland Conference of Churches has come out to discourage the way ward behaviour shown by local gospel leaders as they are perceived as social role models.

This follows a report carried by our sister publication, The Times Sunday about a gospel artist who was reported to have allegedly sexually abused a 14 year old girl.

Part of the press statement reads as follows, "we do not condone such way ward behaviour by people who are supposed to protect the children and be role models and moral fibre of our society. We want to remind our fellow brothers that the ministry whether preaching or singing is a character profession to be responsible citizens and to demonstrate Godly attributes."

It further stated that they were encouraged by the fact that the said culprit had made efforts to meet with the parents of the girl seeking to apologise for his actions.

The Swaziland Conference of Churches also appealed to ACASWA to find the alleged culprit to work with him in order to make sure that such acts are never repeated.

On the other hand, the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA) is currently working on finding the culprit in order to bring him to order.
