Christians could attend Incwala - Justice

MBABANE – Pastor Justice Dlamini has come out to challenge all Swazis to purify Incwala by removing certain elements of it, which he insists are ungodly.

Pastor Justice says as a prophet of God, he has been commissioned by the Creator to relay this special message to all Swazis.

In an interview he initiated himself, he said God put in his heart a portion of scripture in Ezekiel 33:7.

The verse reads: "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me."

The Worship Centre leader said it was possible to have Incwala without the elements of ungodliness in it.

He said he granted the interview to the Times SUNDAY to clarify his previous statements perceived to have been so critical of the sacred ceremony.

He recalled that on two occasions, he was quoted as having labelled Incwala as ungodly while preaching to Christians.

He said he was never given a chance to clarify those statements.

The first statement critical of Incwala was made early in the year 2000 at Prince of Wales during a multi-denominational service and the second was made at Somhlolo National Stadium last year.

All of his statements, he said, caused a national outcry because he did not get the chance to expand on them until God commanded him to publicly admonish the people of Swaziland.

He said he heard from the media that royal authorities wanted to summon him to explain what he meant by his statements.

He wanted to show respect by heeding the royal summon so that he could get a chance to speak for Jesus but to date, has never been called to explain.

Pastor Justice, who hails from Lundzi Royal Kraal, said the king could not be blamed for Incwala as he never invented it.

He said he would also not blame the current generation because they might have found it already in existence.

However, he said, it was the obligation of the present generation to modify this sacred ceremony to make it compatible with the Bible.

The well-known pastor said Swazis had a tendency to wrongly bring the name of the king into the Incwala debate.

He said these people overlooked the fact that the ceremony was for all Swazi nationals.

He said His Majesty King Mswati III showed his loyalty to God when he was crowned the Ingwenyama and King of Swaziland in 1986.

Pastor Justice said he wanted to first demonstrate his love and loyalty to the king because people tended to use His Majesty to define Incwala.

He said it was possible for him (pastor) and all Christians to attend the Incwala if certain rituals unpleasant to God were completely removed.

The specific details of the ceremony he singled out as ungodly will not be repeated here.

‘SD will be cursed if...’

MBABANE - The charismatic pastor said a curse from God would befall Swaziland if his warning would be ignored.

He said what also motivated him to speak about the alleged ills of the sacred and annual ceremony was the fact that the king had proven to all and sundry that he was a Christian and genuine preacher of the gospel.

He said the king’s recent sermons and prayers were clear indications that he was fully committed to the work of God.

The Mbabane based pastor said the king belonged to all Swazis.

He said Swazis had the right to admonish everyone who used culture to set God against the king and the Swazi nation.

"Maswati ngitsi lalelani umbiko lovela kuNkulunkhulu, lonendlebe akalalele – I beg Swazis to listen to what God’s saying to them. Whosoever has an ear must listen," said the pastor.

He explained to us why he bothered himself to tackle the sacred ceremony in this fashion.

The pastor said his father, who died in 2002, worked for royalty during the reign of King Sobhuza II and had a short stint with His Majesty King Mswati III.

He said his father came to his office to register his concern about the Incwala.

As a Swazi, he says, he knows every detail of this sacred ceremony. Secondly, he said, there was a book by Hilda Kuper available in public libraries, local and abroad, where details of certain aspects of the Incwala, unpleasant to God have been published.

The book is called ‘An African Aristocracy’.

Kuper’s book contains unprintable material about Incwala.

He said people should not insult him or scoff at the admonitions as the biblical Ezekiel was sent to render a similar warning to Israel.

He said Israel worshipped idols until God sent Ezekiel to give them a stern warning to desist from this evil practice.

"God has also sent me to warn you all Swazis," said Pastor Justice.

The man of the cloth said God’s eye was upon the Swazi nation.

He said God would punish him if he were to be silent and not warn the nation.

He said he would not be showing love to the country if he was going to withhold the truth from God.

…He is wary of Asian investors

MBABANE – The closure of companies like Sappi Usuthu is a clear indication that the curse of God is upon Swaziland.

This was said by Pastor Justice Dlamini in an interview. He urged Swazi nationals to read more than one version of Deuteronomy 28.

He said Bulembu Mine, Ngwenya Iron Ore, Swazi Paper Mills, Swaziland Chemical Industries and Dvokolwako Mine closed down unceremoniously.

Religion

He said the country’s economy was in the hands of Asians who have a religion that did not conform to God’s standards.

He said the country depended on handouts because it forsook God. Pastor Justice said there would be no prosperity and peace in a country where the worship of God was compromised by the worship of idols. Pastor Justice said the worship of ancestors irked God.

He said the country’s mines were non-operational because it lacked the capacity and wisdom to make them operate.

He said foreigners would come to take over all the country’s natural wealth. He said it worried him to learn that in a population of 1.1 million, about 800 000 people lived below the poverty line.

He said the Asian investors who fund some of the country’s projects released their money with strings attached.

He said these investors wanted to introduce their religion to Swazis. The pastor said once they had done so, the country’s future would be doomed.

‘Who is he to say such?’

LUDZIDZINIUmngani Wemakhosi, T.V. Mtetwa, the acting Governor of the Ludzidzini Royal Residence says Pastor Justice Dlamini is both right and wrong.

He first congratulated him on coming out clearly to recognise Incwala as a sacred ceremony for Swaziland.

He also praised him for showing respect to the king.

Mtetwa said Pastor Justice was right in acknowledging the good works His Majesty King Mswati III was doing for God as Swaziland was rightly prophesied to be the Pulpit of Africa.

However, he said, the same pastor was absolutely wrong to call for changes in the Incwala.

He said the Incwala was pure as it were, and needed no scrutiny of any sort.

He wanted to know the person who had the guts to evaluate and edit an old culture formulated by Swazis of great wisdom."Ayicwaninge LeNcwala nakangubani? Ungakhandza intfo yemaSwati atiphilisa ngayo bese wena lofikako utsi ayicwaningwe, nakoke lapho ngiphambana naye khona. Uyicwaninga leNcwala nawungubani (Who is he to call for scrutiny and editing of Incwala? You are born today, you find a cherished ceremony in existence and all of a sudden you tell the owners of the culture to edit it; this is wrong and I disagree with him in this regard. Who are you to edit Incwala?" wondered the acting Governor of the country’s traditional headquarters.

Comments

Thanks very much to Pastor J. What he is saying is true. Although am not fully aware of what happens behind the scene of the ceremony but if there some elements which are being down which are not biblical we need to quickly stop them. Its obvious to all that if we do what God says we must not do we will reap what we sow. Maswati akitsi please please let us allow change. Loku loshiwo ngubabe Mtsetfwa is totally wrong. Why is he wearing trousers, shirts and why is he driving a vehicle if there is no need for change. The country was not like this centuries back but we have now changed. Why do they use vehicles during the incwala and other ceremonies instead of walking the long distances by their feet. I am a Dlamini people like boMtsetfwa are the ones setting us against the nation. We Dlaminis we are calling for change. We say lets review this our culture using the holy land. We are tired of this people who are setting us against the nation. They are the ones blocking all people who want to see the king and even the Indlovukati. Tell me have seen a Dlamini blocking anyone who wants to see the king. We are saying let the progressive Mtsetfwa and your cohords bo Gama let them see our king and present their views. The King is willing Mr editor to see anyone. Who is blocking people seeing the king tell me is it Prince Masitsela, Gabheni, Sobandla noma ngulaboMtsetfwa nabo Gama. Sukani lapha you guys you are setting the king against the people. Lastly Mr Editor vele lama Asians ayalibulala lelive. Our Cabinet should not so long as we embrace these guys and leave away the Israelites we are doomed. I rest my case. Sinawe wena Justice tsine emalangeni boMtsetfwa abayekele lobudli as they know kutsi maybe what needs to change ku le Ncwala is what they are paid to do. Now if it is taken away batolamba.
