Let's Declare War over weevil tablets'

Sir,

I was touched by the front page picture of the Times of Swaziland of October 09/09/09, when I saw a husband weep for his wife who committed suicide by swallowing weevil or evil tablets.

But our Law informant Agencies are silent as graves about this issue which started a long time ago.
Even NGOs, church, media, and many organisations never take this matter seriously and stand-up and say enough is enough to this lethal monster killer. Let’s face it and fight it, until we conquer.

Now Mbongeni Mbingo, firstly I want to congratulate you on your new appointment as Managing Editor. But I wish to give you an assignment although I am not your boss.
Please Mbingo can you make an urgent investigation about this company which produces these lethal tablets. Find out about their laid-down requisition of selling the tablets to the public without a question or permit.

Are they aware that their tablets are a killer? Are our lives so cheap that this company can make millions of Emalangeni at our expense?

Imported

These tablets are not manufactured locally, so why can’t we stop them from being imported into the country? Many souls have been lost through these and I think we are better off without them (our Ngobolwane because it doesn’t kill). Secondly, I wish to congratulate Martin Dlamini for his appointment as Head of Smart Partnership Secretariat. I take off my hat for him. I say to both of you guys, ‘Well Done’ sons of the soil of Eswatini. We are proud of your achievements.

Let me tell you my story during my time of working. I am a man of 58 years old. I was employed by a certain company in Manzini form 1987 to 2008 but due to medical problems I had to retire early after working 21 years.

Testing

I wrote a letter to my former boss, telling him about problems I was facing at work-78% of it was stress at work and burning feet. He called me back and asked if I knew my status. I said no, then he said I must go and test. He said I must come to Mbabane where his Head office is and he would arrange with someone to do the testing.
Guess what came out, I was positive. He phoned to find out about my results, I told him in writing that I am positive. That was September 2008.
By November 1, I wrote a letter to him that December 31 would be my last day at work. That was a written notice. He said okay.

But by December 31, 2008, I got my monthly salary of E2 400. All my benefits and gratuity were frozen till today.
I am now living like a beggar, because my boss defrauded me. My children and grandchildren are being expelled from school. My wife weeps everyday because she is not used to this life of begging. So when I saw that picture I said, ‘Oh God! Help me that any wife does not do the same’.

I could be living a luxurious life now, if my boss had not defrauded me. I say that because I have two projects in mind (1) farming goats, (2) for farming bees and these have a clean market with Asians who reside in towns. They don’t eat our inkhomo meat.
I stay just 4km from town, so it can be easy for me to sell them my product. I have got enough land to start these projects.
