PUZZLING INDEED....
Considering the rigorous ordeal one is supposed to go through for foreign travel I am amazed that the High Commissioner in the UK has no clue of the whereabouts of a large number of now illegally based Swazis in the UK?
If all of them had provided the same level of information I had to when personally applying for an international passport to travel abroad I just cannot see how that is possible.
“Efforts to register them in the mission’s database proved futile as a number of them are residing illegally without the necessary visa….” How on earth did they up and leave the country while later the ministry completely lost track of them? We are not talking about a few Swazis here; the number mentioned was actually five hundred.
Why has the High Commissioner not contacted his colleagues for assistance from friends or families in the kingdom in an effort to track down these illegal visitors if efforts so far are futile? Where is the detailed information regarding all of these travelling Swazis?
Does the High Commissioner not get that information from the ministry as to Swazis entering the UK, does he not then follow up this detailed information to ensure that protocols are followed and if necessary make sure offenders are dealt with? As usual the ministry has a plethora of excuses based around budgets, lacking monies for houses, renovations, cars and poorly remunerated diplomats?
At the end of the day here is further proof that another government ministry is failing in its mandate and all it can come up with is a long list of excuses relating to the above as well as other budgetary shortfalls like the ‘disposal of redundant stores’ (???) which apparently leave a man unable to perform his duties?
So what is he actually doing there if so poorly rewarded, lacking budget and unable to do his job? Five hundred missing in action Swazis will hardly enhance the reputation of the kingdom in the United Kingdom, will it?
