‘BANGACITFWA BO GUNDWANE’
Right to reply
Sir,
Kindly publish in your esteemed paper my response to your article of the Times of Swaziland dated Wednesday, March 21, 2018, page 13 titled ‘Bangacitfwa bo Gundwane’. Prominently displayed next to the headline is a picture of Make Khoza suggesting a direct link with the message.
If the intention is to genuinely inform your readers on the subject, I would suggest that direct comment is sought from organisers of the seminar. In this case, WLSA was sharing the results of a study on barriers to participation of women in political decision-making. The findings of the consultant are highly instructive and enlightening. These findings have nothing to do with excluding highly effective and respected male MPs such as Umhlonishwa Babe Gundwane.
Sensational reporting in the media which trivialises substantive issues only sets the clock back and negates even policy directives made at the highest levels of governance of the country. Even at this stage, I do encourage (like I did at the workshop) every potential, aspiring woman leader to heed Their Majesties’ call to take on governance leadership positions. Only in that way can we as women effectively contribute to the sustainable development of our communities, Tinkhundla and the country at large.
Poppy Khoza
