THIS IS THE WORST PARLIAMENT EVER

I’m sure I am stating the obvious by saying our Members of Parliament have failed the country dismally.

I’m really disappointed by our current MPs because I expected much from them. Contrary to my expectations the Members of Parliament have failed the nation. Under their watch the nation has suffered tremendously. They have failed to play their oversight role on the Executive with integrity. Our MPs have watched nonchalant as the Executive continued to spend recklessly on many vanity projects that will never benefit the nation. The MPs have approved reckless expenditure of public funds on non priority projects like the multi-billion hotel and convention centre that are still under construction in Ezulwini. They approved these hedonistic projects while 70 per cent of Swazis in rural areas are languishing in abject poverty such that they cannot afford a single decent a meal a day, do not have roads, do not have access to clean water, there is a shortage of drugs in hospitals and Free Primary Education is dysfunctional due to lack of proper funding.

Under this Parliament tenure we have seen electricity, water and transport prices increasing far above what the ordinary Swazis, whose salaries remain stagnant, can afford. They have further plunged Swazis into poverty by allowing the unreasonable hike of taxes. While the nation is wallowing in poverty occasioned by paltry salaries, they have collectively rubber stamped the construction of a E5 million hovel (lidlokolo) for a filthy rich prime minister while many senior citizens in the country cannot afford the real lidlokolo. As the electorate let us not be fooled by the half-hearted noise the MPs raised on these issues because it is clear that they were playing mind games. If they had the interest of the nation at heart they would have long passed a vote of no confidence on the prime minister and his Cabinet. So to avenge for the pain and anguish that this useless Parliament has subjected us to, let us not vote for anyone who is a member of the current Legislature or Cabinet. Please Swazis!
