THE IDEAL ESWATINI
Sir,
You know, a couple of weeks back I was talking to one of my dear friends about how our country lacks people who will be hell-bent on trying to make it a more developed one. He said something so simple yet so deep; if you want change, be the change. It is engraved – stuck deep in the realms of my mind.
Today I recall the whole story of how South Korea swerved from being one of the less economically developed countries into being one of the more economically developed countries in the world and it got me thinking . . . we actually can pull this off.
Youth
By ‘we’ I don’t mean the youth, no – I mean every single person, regardless of class, ethnic group, skin colour, age, etc. If we, for instance, would like to keep our country clean and green, we have to be the ones to recycle; we have to be the ones to stop littering and start making it a habit to allow garbage bins to serve their purpose. I always say habit is second nature.
Investing
We have to be the ones to get our children to grasp the concept of saving and investing from an early age.
I don’t care if you’re 80 or eight years old; whether you’re a perfect or imperfect little being, we still need you – we still need your contribution towards making this country a better place for each and every one of us. We need your expertise in tackling some encounters.
A puzzle is always said to be incomplete when it’s missing a single piece. It took South Korea roughly 50 years of persistence in achieving the vision they had as one people to actually become the South Korea we know today. I don’t know how long it will take Eswatini; but I do know this puzzle is incomplete without your help.
