EXPERIENCE NO LONGER BEST TEACHER

Sir,

Ever since I began differentiating between wrong and right, I knew that experience is the best teacher, but today’s outcomes have raised huge wonders whether the above statement is true or not. Seemingly falling in the same trap the next people have already fallen into has become our main forte. I must say that we keep on moving back and forth on one and the same things which their drawbacks bring nothing but humiliation to our precious selves. I believe we all know that after doing something improper it will someday somehow show up.

Predict

This is to say one does not even have to eat some fortune cookies to predict the future as it would eventually flip between that individual’s hands while they think they have covered all their tracks. In short, what you do today influences tomorrow. We have seen several individuals failing to cope with depression after they had been loaned thousands and thousands of Emalangeni by loan sharks. Unfortunately the results are worse as they end up committing suicide. But we still think borrowing money is an option, yet it is one of the all time suicidal options.

Debts

As I see it, most people are remorselessly drowning themselves in huge debts, while they are trying to deal with the end effects of the previous ‘hectic December’. Good people, experience should be our best teacher. We don’t have to humiliate ourselves over things that have been talked about before. Allow me to also touch on cases of violence which are still escalating even after all the firm laws that have been passed. We have been to campaigns like the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence but still that has seemingly made no difference to some individuals. Perhaps this calls for self-reliance whereby one will take responsibility of taking care of the next person.

Violence

We all know what happens to those who have victimised others; they go to jail! So I suggest we all live peacefully without any violence either on both male or female genders.
As I see it, we need a school of thought about all these thought provoking issues. We should not be thoughtless and live like tomorrow never exists because what we do today will surely result in how tomorrow will be. We can’t predict the future or our tomorrow but we can prepare for it by learning from the already stricken. More importantly, let us not be statistics but realists.
