IT’S TIME THINGS CHANGED

Sir,

You know nothing hurts more than knowing that what we thought was right is actually the reason we are still behind in development and inventions.

As a country we still believe in what we are told by people outside of this country. Through ignorance we let them set our rules, we let them guide us and we also let them deprive us of what we have now. See, I’m not saying what they teach us is wrong, but we have every right to question them and correct them. After all we all have the same rights to input.

Most of the things done centuries and decades ago have changed gradually due to everyday development and some are yet to change. These have been changed by those creative enough to make our way of life easier. We have seen cars being developed, phones being invented and customised but education has always been the same.

Taught

The way in which we are being taught has not changed, the environment and structure in all educational facilities are still the same. We still put students in straight rows, nice and neat, tell them to raise a hand when they want to say something and for eight hours a day tell them what to think then grade them the same way we grade food quality.

So basically we are being trained to work in factories. Not realising that we were taught this way to adapt onto the way of life during those times. Now since everything has changed, shouldn’t we then consider changing or  restructuring our education,  just pimp it up a little bit.

Technologies

We all see that most of our youth grow up in the presence of technologies hence they already know much about them through gaming and researching. Then why do we keep teaching them how to use a computer even when they grow older.
These things have been implemented all over the internet. Google is the answer to most of our questions.

This shows that robotics are taking over. Why then do you keep bothering me about mastering or solving X and Y when the internet can do that for me.

Don’t we see that we keep narrowing ourselves into the same lane that our ancestors took, who then will discover and use the other ways to success and development. Shouldn’t we try educating one based on the spaces that need to be filled in life instead of just learning to get a certificate and add values onto the rate of unemployment.

We grew up knowing that we all have to go to school in order to have a better life, but now we see thousands of those graduates sitting at home for years still hoping to be employed. Stop producing teachers knowing very well that you can’t employ them. Stop working on mastering something and work on upgrading it.

We all claim we want to be part of the First World countries but there’s nothing much we do to get there.
There’s a saying that goes, ‘If you can’t beat them join them’. This doesn’t always work in life, sometimes, if you can’t join them then you’ll have to work on beating them because joining them means you’ll do exactly what they do and take the same time they took to reach a certain target and as a country we are clearly failing to do that.

These days, the only people who make it in life are those who will choose to be activists (not politically but rather professionally and occupationally), innovative and those who are curious to know more. It’s about time we change how we do things and stop living through our past. Even though most of what we say falls on deaf ears, it’s worth voicing out to those who value life and believe in change.
