SIMPLIFY YOUR DAILY ROUTINES
Madam,
In an ever exponentially increasing modern day society in its complexity, emerging bleeding edge technology, groundbreaking findings, lighting speed communication; you could name it all but there is one infallible truth amidst all that - our brains have remained the same old piece of equipment that seemingly just can’t deliver at optimum level anymore.
We need to just halt things for a moment and search deep within ourselves why we have accumulated so much and have seemingly reached ‘burnout’, where we can no longer be efficient in almost anything at all.
The answer to this is simply to incorporate minimalism.
It is only a matter of taking a moment to identify what really matters to us, a more disciplined pursuit of less - where what we decide to acquire or the tasks we sought to execute are in the order of priority, which may differ from each individual.
Instead of making hundreds of strides in a million directions, we should rather route our energy to one task at a time.
I have since struggled with simplifying my life as a student, but I found interesting benefits by making an ambitious attempt to de-clutter my space.
huge difference
It began by just simply stacking the tower of my heavy textbooks into two equally sized piles. It was amazing how this made a huge difference. I got less frustrated, figuring out where each book was and I spent less time tiding up after each study session.
I began simplifying my daily routines from dressing up, managing my phone’s notifications - which is by far the most impeding out of all.
I had to hesitantly discard certain things that I owned which I thought defined who I was - and that I would lose my sense of identity.
Looking back, I have figured out that it is possible to live without these things and that they were consuming hours of my time to maintain, yet they did not give me value in return.
Nevertheless, it is not about simply giving up even your daily necessities - minimalism is more inclined to being more thoughtful with our acquisitions in order to balance the beam of productivity and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
In retrospect, this necessarily transformed my entire life as it is a continuous process. It surely has spared me some time to do what was once on my wish list, which I have never been able to accomplish.
Some may have wanted to try a new diet, going out to spend time with family and friends, read that book that has overstayed its welcome or it could be a new hobby. Your wish list may be different, but the beauty of minimalism is that it can be configured into what entirely suits you.
remind yourself
There are so many unexpected turns in life that most people tap out. They can’t handle the discomfort, but you have to constantly remind yourself the truth.
The reason you’re on this path is not because its guaranteed nor certain - it is because in hindsight, you do not want to regret saying ‘I should have spent my time doing what sets alight the passion in my heart’.
Embracing a simple lifestyle could be a pivotal decision.
