VALENTINE WARNING TO YOUNG PEOPLE

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

In your widely read newspaper please give me a chance to forward a message to my fellow teenagers, especially those still in school. Valentine Day is upon us and obviously a lot of the youth engage in sexual. People have sexual intercourse claiming that tits a day of lovers, most of the time these things are done under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and in the absence of condoms.

Pleasure

Those few minutes of pleasure often result in unwanted pregnancies and maybe HIV/AIDS. There is a global economic crisis these days and the government is going to cut salaries of its employees, so how do you expect your parents to take care of you and your baby because the standard of living is quite expensive. In most cases, the boys tend to deny impregnating you and disappear, leaving you in tears. My close friend once said the boys just want ‘leskaftini kuphela’ from the girls and flee when they are full or maybe they have found something or rather someone better.

Ruin

Please take my advice and avoid sex because this may ruin your future plans, do not make compromise when it comes to your education and bright future. Time to get someone to keep you warm is coming so do not rush things, wait until you finish school, university, get a good job and then get one partner and settle down because you may not be the only one getting heat from that person and well as they say stru aw’kaphephi.

Abstain

So please be warned: winter is cold but it won’t freeze you to death just because you choose to abstain and wear a warm jersey. Do not flush your future down the drain because of peer pressure because that’s when you are really going to feel the cold and hostility of life.

Hlophe
