ERADICATE POOR GOVERNANCE
Eswatini is blessed with an abundance of educated talent, but some are idling at their various homes, while others are benefitting in other countries.
The individuals who are in other countries are making a meaningful impact in those countries’ economies. Ours is a very small economy to manage, if there was political will, Eswatini’s ills could be turned around in one week. To solve a problem one must first acknowledge and accept that there is a problem. No justifying and apportioning blame, that won’t help us.
Budget
In Eswatini a big chunk of the entire budget goes to the tendering process. Look around and you will see people who have suddenly become overnight multimillionaires, and they are continuing to mushroom. The government tendering process is susceptible to corruption and seemingly people involved in it are untouchable. Suppose our leadership decided enough was enough and they wanted this solved once and for all, this is where solving the ills of the country in a week comes in. This is done in the private sector with much success, so there is no reason why it can’t be done in government. Eswatini has capable and competent individuals who could help effect this as soon as possible. And I would volunteer my services, free of charge, if asked to help. In the meantime, we need to charge and imprison all those who have helped and made sure that the tendering process is manipulated. This would definitely not take long to do.
Recover
All of the aforementioned could be done in seven days if we wanted, and wait for the dates in courts and in the meantime put the correct policy and procedures in place to stop the rot. If we could recover all the money stolen through the tendering process, Eswatini would find itself on the highway to financial stability. For the country to seriously get out of this mess there must be political will to eradicate poor governance.
