WHO DO ENPF INVESTMENTS BELONG TO?
Madam,
Can someone kind of do some research on the functions of the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF). What is confusing me and a lot of other people is the fact that this fund was established way back in the 70s, and many of its original members have either passed away or have retired with no pension to sustain them. On the other hand, ENPF pays you out on retirement and you are no longer entitled to any benefits.
This is against the backdrop that ENPF has invested a lot of funds in many properties around the country, properties which are being leased out to various companies and individuals. Now my question is, who do these investments belong to since an individual, as an elder, is part of the establishment of the fund, and you are no longer a member but instead one has to resort to the government social grant for elderly people? It was said that when the fund is converted into a pension scheme, only contributing members would be considered from the cut off period. The delay is depriving members of not being taken on when the fund is eventually converted. Can someone come to the rescue of emaSwati in this regard.
NOTE: In an effort to afford them the Right to Reply, this letter was emailed to the Eswatini National Provident Fund on July 20, 2023 and they acknowledged, via email, receiving the letter; saying they would work on a response. When a follow-up call was made, we were informed that the letter was with management, however, there has been no response forthcoming.
