PEER PRESSURE SHOULD NOT CONTROL YOUTH

It is a known fact that most of young people’s minds revolve around getting a source of income, getting a partner and being romantically involved with that partner. Inasmuch as these young people are able to get involved in these relationships, they seem not content with one partner and seek to engage more partners of the opposite sex.

Questions

Then the questions remains; “Is having sex considered being matured?” It seems like many young people believe that once they are engaged in sexual activities at an early age, they were now mature, or they think that society labels them as mature. The young person rushes to be labelled matured yet he/she has no idea what maturity means. That is why you find young people engaging in sex prematurely, because of the standards set in their minds by their peers as well as the media.

Role

In the 21st century the most dominant activity in a young person’s mind is the social media, which in turn now plays a pivotal role in the young person’s mind. Social media exposes young persons to many different kinds of topics that they directly or indirectly become attached to. These topics include the different lives that are on display from all corners of the world.
These lives then become a focal point for the improvement of their minds, and at times a downfall to their minds through envy and jealousy. The exposure of young people to so many different kinds of lives has led most of them being confused on their purposes on earth.
They in turn compare their lives with the lives of others instead of modelling their lives to that of others.
One author once said; “A flower does not bother much about the blossoming of other flowers, but rather it just blossoms.”
