Mavuso Trade Centre a disgrace

Sir,

Kindly allow me space in your newspaper to express my concern pertaining to the newly constructed Mavuso sports centre.

One wonders Mr Editor as to when in the country will we ever taste and enjoy our freedom.
Long has been the time and still there is no marked change that we are made to at least witness when it comes to the misuse of the tax payer’s money. We have seen a move which gave hope to many and I too thought would result into a real competitive stadium in the country hhayi lemihlolo lesinayo manje.

Much to the shock and disappointment of many, a mini stadium or let me say a soccer field was constructed right against the move of our expectation. One therefore wonders if anyone among our authorities realises the fact that we still don’t have a stadium which we can fearlessly and shamelessly point to as a nation.

I wonder who was engaged in the planning of the sports centre, of course not taking away the fact that maybe the idea was to have a sports centre, I believe something better than that could have been constructed.
When will we ever get to taste and live in a revamped nation guided by long-term fruitful thoughts which are geared to take our country to a first world status.
In a space of not even a year after its construction, the centre has since turned into a white ‘elephant’.

Decorating

One therefore asks if this was a nation focused mission or it was an individualistic ego in manifestation. Mainly the soccer field, can’t it be used for something better than decorating the centre? Rather have children come and play emakhaya nabomabha-celana lokungenani than deceiving the nation that we are engaged in change oriented moves when actually we having an activity-less centre. Kutawutsiwa emaSwati asangenwe mahlaya yet in actual fact we are being spiced with salt onto our already wounded hearts.

It pains to see our money being indirectly thrown into the river like this. First of all before we even had the centre constructed, the money went through the current hot wave of corruption currently running majestically through our country, so you can imagine what we as Swazis are subjected to just because we are a kingdom.

I can only say that this is an embarrassment, a humiliation, and a scandal of the highest order; proof that this country has not got the right people at the right jobs, and sadly for us, they are shortsighted! This then makes it such a big challenge for His Majesty’s wish to turn this country into a first world; because the people around him can’t begin to even dream it! Good observation otherwise!
Editor.

: 8% EEC Tariff Hike Cut
Does 8% cut have the potential to ease financial burdens for emaSwati?
