WATCHING NETFLIX BETTER THAN GOING TO KAMHLUSHWA
Madam,
I have noted how people are preparing to go to KaMhlushwa for a prayer service on November 2. I wish to state that there is no need to go and hold a prayer for the independence of Eswatini, because this county has been free since 1968. Instead, prayer must be dedicated for the high crime, unemployment and other social needs. Eswatini has a Constitution drawn and was adopted by the people in 2005. What other freedom do you need apart from that which we were given by the British Government? We should channel all our energies in developing the country, so that we can compete with developed nations. If we still fight for things such as the ludicrous independence, we are wasting a great deal of time and we will be sorry.
Democracy
Some people say we need multiparty democracy, but the truth is in the open for all to see. The Constitution does not in any way outlaw political parties. If these parties have the mandate of the people as they claim, then they should all be winning all the seats in Parliament. The fact that almost all those who want political parties tried their luck and failed at the polls, means that people do not want anything to do with political parties. Let us stick to Tinkhundla, which was launched by King Sobhuza II as a vehicle for political, social and economic development.
It must be on record that we love our King and want to be led by him, without necessary saying he is flawless. Many countries envy Eswatini because of the people’s love for culture and the Monarch. We want it to remain that way. If there are modifications to the system, let them be communicated freely at Sibaya, where we go every five years. EmaSwati are also not afraid of a political referendum if needs be. The people know what they want and could easily prove that a majority love the King and Tinkhundla. The good thing about Tinkhundla is that it gives everyone an opportunity in a fair manner. What do you say about the uMkhonto weSizwe Part which withdrew people from Parliament, just because they had voiced a particular disagreement with their leaders. These MPs had already notified their families and friends that they were MPs and some closed their businesses to concentrate on the political job.
System
They were removed just like that and no one will question that move. Now, do we want to have a similar political system, where there is a lot of uncertainty? With Tinkhundla, even the uneducated person has a chance to go to Parliament. The money that people will use to go to kaMhlushwa can be used in many other personal social development needs. You could buy shoes for your child, pay bills to stay ahead, buy nice summer clothes or even data for the whole month to watch Netflix. People are going to KaMhlushwa to only hear lies. It is very clear that comrades survive on lies to remain relevant to donors.
