EMBRACE PATRIOTISM IN ESWATINI

Madam,

One of the topics on interest, during the recent Sibaya was patriotism. However, very little is being done or said about it. As a final-year student at the University of Eswatini and a proud citizen of our beautiful nation, I am compelled to express my thoughts on the vital role of patriotism in shaping our collective identity and future.

In a world that often seems divided, the spirit of patriotism can unite us, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility towards our beloved Eswatini. Patriotism is more than just love for our country; it is an active commitment to its development and prosperity. As young citizens, we bear the responsibility to uphold the values, culture and traditions that define us. It is essential that we not only celebrate our rich heritage, but also engage in discussions on how we can contribute positively to our society. In these challenging times, we must harness our patriotism to address pressing issues such as education, health care and economic development.

By working together, we can champion initiatives that uplift our communities and create opportunities for all. Our collective efforts can pave the way for a brighter future, where every citizen feels empowered and valued. Moreover, as we reflect on our national identity.  Let’s remember that patriotism should be inclusive. It must embrace the diversity within our borders, recognising that every voice contributes to the tapestry of Eswatini.  By fostering an environment of unity and respect, we can ensure that patriotism transcends mere sentiment and transforms into meaningful action.
