FIGHT A GOOD FIGHT

Sir,

I will start off my letter by elaborating briefly on the whole concept of fighting a good fight. Fighting is an act of striving for, or battling against someone or something. Now, a good fight, can be unpacked as the aftermath of a ‘strive’. What I am trying to send across is the message that; In all the battles you’re facing in your life, find the courage to boldly contend them and come out victorious.

Life is a battle field; the bitterness, pain, confusion, poverty and all the heartbreaking stories of murder, rape and gender-based violence are battles. It just so happened that we found ourselves in the heart of the battlefield.

Confused

We are confused, frustrated and lost. We are caught between what to do and what not to do. Everyone is over- occupied to welcome and brief us of what is expected of us. We are left with no choice but to join in; if you can’t beat them, you join them right? That’s how adulthood feels for some of us.

Being an adult requires one to be holistically fit for it. Having all the necessary information and went through all the necessary education to qualify them for adulthood. However, we young adults learn the hard way, through our mistakes. We were never told to prepare by arming ourselves. Anyways, this is it agemates, let’s fight, and a good fight it must be. Let’s do it, not for ourselves but for the next generation. Leaving the world better than how we found it should be our mission. Let’s strive. Let’s improvise for our mission to be accomplished. Poking each other in the eyes will aid us not. Let’s fight a good fight.

Growing up, we knew that older people get married, but now we’re the older and married ones. We knew that when older, you go to work and provide for your family, but now we’re older and feel useless for doing it. We grew up knowing that only older people die and now we, the younger generation, are dying before them. Life is not fair. However, as unfair as it can be, we will not falter. Forward we go, we shall fight, provided we are still here. We will never lose hope. We will find courage. We will strive and conquer in the end.
