Better politicians next time

Sir,

Much has been said about the outgoing crop of politicians.

Almost all conclusions drawn by observers hold a lot of water.
If I can try to look back at what the politicians have done for the entire populace, it is very disheartening and so little that I can hardly comment on.

If at this juncture, we are still talking of heavy taxes on the poor people of Swaziland, then one needs not be a rocket scientist to deduce that they were such a dismal group but surprisingly, some of them are still rubbing their hands to the appointing authorities.

It pains me to say that there are those few politicians who had brains but unfortunately, they got swallowed up by the system.
As put by Jan Sithole (not that I am a fan of Jan), it is pathetic that these old people are expected to survive on E7.30 a day!

Even my son, Scubhosengwenya, can actually pick it up that this outgoing government has been pathetic.

All they did was to enrich themselves with hefty perks.
Now I am getting back to today’s topic.
The next crop of politicians has to posses the following prerequisites.

*   They must not be self-centred.
*    They must be people of integrity.
*    Must have a track  record of         outstanding behaviour.
*   Must be having  good managerial skills.
*    I would have said they should be Christians but Christians and non Christians in this country are separated by a very thin or an imaginary one. So let us invite the  Muslims to come on board.
*   A minimum requirement of tertiary education can do, though not compulsory.
*    Basically they must be doers than talkers.

It hurts to note how the traditional politicians are misleading our authorities.
They continue feeding the authorities lies to the effect that everything is fine and yet that is not the case.

Things are just far from right. The King has had His powers usurped.
The King has been reduced to a laughing stock because of his kindness.
I beg the appointing authorities to verify the backgrounds of all the people who will be recommended, this year before He appoints them. Really, we need new people with ideas of running this country but not losing track of our strong culture.

The current constitution, which is only a smokescreen, needs not only amending but total revamping.
Can anyone join me in prayer or kuphahla  this weekend because as a country, we seriously need that.
