SHODDY LICENCE PLATES
Sir,
I recall in 2010 when government, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to be precise, introduced the new vehicle licence plates.
We were compelled to change to the new format of plates. The problem is that the supply of these was grossly monopolised by government, such that one or two companies were selected to supply these plates.
Now, as you may have seen on vehicles on our roads, some of these plates are delaminating (the plastic coating is separating from the metal plate), and this renders the plates unfit to be used on our vehicles as it is difficult to read.
Trouble
I have been in trouble in one of our neighbouring countries for this, and it makes me wonder what should happen now.
Will the government come to the rescue of the consumers and compel the responsible suppliers to correct this, or should the consumers foot the bill for the replacements?
I am wondering.
However, it would be very unfair if the consumer was to be left alone, because government was very instrumental in selecting and protecting the responsible companies for the supply of the plates.
Can someone come to our rescue before we are cheated?
