ASPIRING COPS COLLECT APTITUDE TEST RESULTS
MBABANE – Hundreds of aspiring police recruits yesterday crammed various police stations to collect their aptitude test results.
Some came as early as 7am.
However, not all of them went home happy as some failed the aptitude test. Individuals came to collect their results following an announcement by the Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba.
All along, the police department, with the help of officials from the Ministry of Education and Training, has been busy marking the scripts of the applicants who sat for the aptitude test.
Out of the over 6 000 who sat for the test, 400 aspiring police recruits will ultimately be employed. Those who have passed the test will join the next stage which will be the physical fitness test followed by oral interviews.
The police service has warned that there was no other way of joining the service except through passing all the set interviews. Those who passed the aptitude test got a three-page result detailing their success and a space for a medical report whereas those who failed to make it theirs is only a one page letter.
“Following your written interview conducted at SCOT on October 18, 2014, we regret to inform you that you were not successful. We thank you for showing interest to join the police service,” reads a rejection letter in part.
Pleased
However, the letter of those who made it, though, reads; “Following your written test for recruitment to join the Royal Swaziland Police Service which was held on October 18, 2014, I am pleased to inform you that you have been successful. You are hereby invited to come personally for a physical fitness test interview to be held at the Police College starting at 7am.”
During the physical fitness test, men will be subjected to four laps (1 600m) around the Police College 400-metre track in a given time of six and a half minutes. Immediately after successfully running, aspiring recruits will also be subjected to 10 single press-ups. Women will be subjected to two laps (800m) in four minutes and eight single press-ups. Only candidates who will pass this physical fitness test will be recommended for the final central interview on a later date.
