‘SUICIDE SOLDIER WAS VIOLENT AFTER SMOKING DAGGA’
MANZINI – It has been revealed that the army officer who shot his lover and himself in a rage could have actually been fuelled by dagga.
The deceased soldier is said to have been smoking dagga moments before his mood changed for the worst and threatened family members of the businesswoman, who was his lover.
Nombulelo Mazibuko (41) of Nhlangano, a businesswoman who owned flats died on Monday at about noon after she had alighted from her maroon Toyota Corolla near the main gate to her homestead.
Her boyfriend, a member of the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF), Sikhumbuzo Simelane (32) of Hlatikhulu killed himself after he had shot her dead.
One of the deceased woman’s nieces, Nokulunga Makhanya, who is highly pregnant, confirmed that the USDF member had just finished smoking dagga when he allegedly forced her to lie to her aunt that she was in labour.
She revealed that Simelane, who had always been a violent person, had ordered her to communicate with her aunt at gunpoint.
“He was staying with us all along. He had paid lobola to our aunt who raised us. They have been having relationship problems and he did not want to move out of the house.
“My aunt decided to rent a small flat in Manzini hoping that Sikhumbuzo would realise that he had to give up staying with her. On the day of the incident, I was ordered to lie and tell her that I was in labour, when in fact I was not.
