RAMODIBEDI IS IN LESOTHO
MBABANE – Former Chief Justice Michael Ramodibedi is in Lesotho. Basotho Foreign and International Relations Minister Tlohang Sekhamane informed this publication that the former CJ had already arrived in Lesotho.
“Yes, ntate Ramodibedi is in the country. I have not sat down with him yet.
“We are allowing him to touch base with his relatives before we can engage him.”
Sekhamane said he last spoke to the erstwhile CJ on Saturday.
He further stated that he met the delegation from Swaziland and they talked to him in his office. He noted that the delegation proceeded to meet the Basotho King, Letsie III.
He said he was not part of the discussions that ensued thereafter.
Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze said the delegation to Lesotho was well received.
Minister Gamedze confirmed the trip to Lesotho but informed this publication that he was yet to report to the monarch, who had assigned them to Lesotho.
“I have to report to the King first, so that he does not read it in the newspapers.”
The minister had left with Edgar Hillary, who is the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
He further noted that the erstwhile CJ was not part of the trip as reported earlier. He said Justice Ramodibedi decided to go to South Africa and not be part of the delegation.
Our sister publication, the Swazi News, had quoted Minister Gamedze saying they were expected to be accomapanied by Ramodibedi to deliver a special message to the Basotho King on Monday.
