MBABANE – “Even if a new law can be passed to approve same-sex marriages I will never allow it in my church.”

These were the words of popular man of the cloth Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule during one of his sermons last week.
The bishop, who is married to South African businesswoman Zanele Mbokazi, made it known that he would never allow a union between two men and strongly stressed that sexual attraction between members of the same sex or gender was abomination.

Nkambule, who spends most of his time in South Africa, told the congregation that he had heard that the neighbouring country was currently working on a law that would prevent pastors from preaching against same-sex relationships and said he would never adhere to it.
Thursday’s sermon was part of a five-day crusade themed ‘Back To The Cross’ and was attended by Mbokazi, award-winning singer Dr Tumi and music producer and businessman Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane.
According to Nkambule, no one would ever have the right to dictate to him on what to preach especially at a church or marquee which he paid for himself.
“You can only tell me not to preach against gays if I went to their bars but if it is in a platform like this tent which I paid for myself then forget it.
“I put up this tent myself so no one will start protesting against me.

“This is a church and it has laws so if you do not want to follow them just get out.
“Ngako ngitsi bafana anisulalana nodvwana ngoba ngemanyala lawo, its abomination,” Nkambule said much to the applause of the attendees.
He emphasised that what was happening in South Africa was coming to Swaziland and that it was what he termed signs of the end times.
“I am not sorry for saying this because all I am doing is preaching what the Bible says.

“But even if they can make the law I will never until I die allow a man to marry another. Angiyuze ngishadise umfati nemfati noma indvdodza nendvodza, angiyuze,” he said in vernacular.
