COPS TORTURED ME FOR 11 DAYS - ALLEGED SERIAL KILLER
MBABANE – Police are alleged to have suffocated Elangeni alleged serial killer and rapist Vusi Kunene with a tube to coerce him to confess to the crimes.
According to Dlamini, the interrogation and torture by the police lasted for 11 days before he was brought before a magistrate to record a confession.
He was allegedly not only suffocated and tortured but was also assaulted all over the body. As a result of the assault, Dlamini reportedly sustained serious injuries in some parts of his body.
Due to the alleged severe beatings by the law enforcers, the accused’s left arm was swollen and had bruises, his second finger swollen and his neck had slight bruises on the right.
Dlamini first disclosed this when he recorded a confession with Principal Magistrate Florence Msibi at the Manzini Magistrates Court.
During the confession, the accused is further said to have informed the judicial officer that the investigators made threats which induced him to make the statement (confession).
The principal magistrate was yesterday paraded as the first witness for the Crown. She also confirmed that the accused told her that he was suffocated with a tube and further assaulted by the police.
Principal Magistrate Msibi narrated to the court that the accused was brought to him by Constable Mbhamali from Lobamba Police Station.
“I took steps to ensure that no police officer was within sight or hearing distance of the office where the confession was recorded and that no one other than the Interpreter, Philisiwe Simelane (now magistrate), was present in my office. The door was closed,” Msibi stated.
