MANZINI – A mentally unstable patient was sodomised at the National Psychiatric Hospital in Manzini.
This is the same institution where supposedly violent patients escaped recently.

*Vusi (28), who was admitted with two other patients in his ward, was approached by his mates while sleeping in his bed.
They first made small talk with him before one of them pinned him on the bed while the other sexually molested him.

Vusi had been admitted to the psychiatric hospital in January 6 and was released on leave on March 7, 2017.
It is believed that the sodomy incident took place around that time when he was admitted to the centre.
According to his mother, who will not be identified to protect the survivor, she alleged that the hospital concealed the matter and only made a call on March 7, to inform her that they were granting Vusi leave as his condition had improved.

However *Norah, the mother, said when she went to collect her son’s medication from the nurse, she was called aside and asked to step away from the crowd.
The nurse gave her the medication, together with another batch known as Anti- Haemorrhoid drug to insert in his behind.

Anti-Hemorrhoid drugs is medicine in the form of ointments, creams, foams etc used to reduce the swelling and relieve the discomfort of hemorrhoids, which actually mean swellings in the area around one’s behind.
Norah said when this drug was prescribed to his son, she questioned the nurse who then opened up that there were suspicions to the effect that Vusi had been sodomised.
She said had the nurse not spoken, she wouldn’t have known the truth as his son was very secretive.

“The nurse did not want to elaborate on the matter and immediately left us. I was bothered by the issue and returned to the institution the following day where a meeting was convened.”
Further, Norah said she was not satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and decided to go to the Manzini Police Station to report the matter.
